As a former Chief of Regulatory and Compliance for several specialty chemicals & materials startups, Mike has championed domestic & international Regulatory approvals, operational excellence, Stewardship, Sustainability and environmental, health, and safety disciplines.

Mike leverages his vast industry knowledge and leadership experience to identify and place top-tier talent in the CREST disciplines for a variety of technical industries. His extensive background gives him the unique ability to understand the complexities of technical and regulatory roles, and allows him to pinpoint candidates who not only meet but exceed organizational needs.

John Hillenbrand

Executive Recruiter

John received his bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech and his master’s and doctoral degrees from Carnegie Mellon University, all in chemical engineering.

He joined the Chatham Group in 2021 after closing his 37-year industrial career spanning four companies (DuPont, Owens Corning, Armstrong, and Graham Packaging) and multiple industries, including packaging (rigid and flexible), building materials, composite reinforcements, industrial polymers, automotive, personal care, safety and protection, aramid fibers, and elastomers.

Through several assignments at DuPont – including operations accountability for a highly hazardous process – John got his indoctrination into various aspects of EH&S management.  Given the vital roles that Product Stewardship and Regulatory play in serving customers and protecting the environment, these disciplines were embedded in the innovation processes at DuPont, Owens Corning, Armstrong, and Graham Packaging.  It’s clear that sustainability initiatives and innovation portfolios have become increasingly interdependent, with regulations and customer expectations making the utilization of recycled materials to be increasingly critical to success, in applications as diverse as insulation, flooring, and packaging.

Adam Mueller

Executive Recruiter

Adam received his Bachelor’s Degree in Materials Engineering – Biomaterials from Clemson University

He joined the Chatham Group as a Technical Recruiter after 5 years of experience developing engineered polymer and ceramic materials with applications in the exploration, evaluation, and extraction of oil and gas reserves, both offshore and shale-based. As a Plant Engineer, he cultivated experience in Process, Production, Quality, and Reliability Engineering disciplines while managing a warehouse that was shipping and receiving hazardous materials and reagents daily.

Many of his projects focused on Manufacturing Circularity, a term given to describe specific actions taken under the umbrella of production sustainability, such as recycling various raw materials and catalysts, finding marketable applications for waste products, and refurbishing and enhancing the reliability of production equipment to increase throughput and yields. Working with engineered materials on the bleeding edge of the Petroleum Engineering Technologies industry gave considerable experience in general Product Innovation as well as Customer Insights Management since meetings with key industry players and consumers were used to develop products targeting existing market voids.
